Good food all the same, but the menu thing pissed me off a little. Plus it wasnt cheap, 4 of us there and there wasn't much change from 300 notes. In fairness that included a few bottles of vino and a few g'n't's but not one of us left the place drunk...
4 of us had dinner there the other night for €140.

Those must have been some nice bottles of wine

Missredsocks - tis lovely. They do a dinner B&B offer which is quite reasonable, and apparently the breakfasts are savage altogether.

for fancy pub food it really is, now im not saying it wasnt nice but there was auld fellas sitting behind us having a few pints as a normal Saturday night...

Matty, it was hardly that fancy wine, mid-range types (this is one of the main reasons eating out in Ireland is soo bloody expensive).

Pudgee i agree with you. when people think that 70e a head is not expensive then there is something really wrong with the folk....

Coincidently i was out in dublin earlier in the year and had a really lovely meal in a small restaurant, the food was south of France rustic type stuff and really good wine, got speaking with the owner (her hubby was the chef, who was french so thats where the good food came from) and she was telling me that she was fed up going out for dinner and it costing a fortune so they decided to come up with a nice menu which including a bottle of wine would cost less than 100e per couple or there or there abouts.

Blackboard bistro the place was called. cant recommend it enough. apart from the fact that there was only room to seat about 20 people...

Le Bon Crubeen on Talbot Street does great food - main course for €10 or so.

They used to have an ad outside the door "French food for feck all"

Indeed.

One of my favourite restaurants (and one of the most expensive) round here, the Forbury, will set you back about 50 quid a head, with wine.

Even the ludicrious 6 course meal option is £55.

I think I've paid 70 quid a head once, in a 5 star hotel in France.

Got given a slap up in this place at the weekend for Daddy's Day

http://www.murphysofkillarney.com/kenmares.html

It's pricey but the seafood platter is an orgasm on a plate.

We ate in the bar part but the restuarant upstairs is seriously. seriously good.

Apparently the wine list is great too. I don't drink the stuff but the wineheads I know rave about it.

I was the market lane on Friday night and was really dissapointed with it.

Steak badly cooked and chips underdone. Dessert a mess

Hadnt eaten there in about a year and it was great the last time i was there.

Had dinner in Electric a few weeks ago - couldnt praise it enough. Lovely food and lovely space.
