Personaly I think its too much for a phone.
Again, this is my point. If you think 500 euros is too much for a phone you're not part of their target market. As far as Apple are concerned, you may as well not exist.

(I'm not having a go here. This is simply the way companies think when they go after the high end of a market. They're not competing to get everyone to buy their products, only the ones who don't mind spending the extra money.)

That's not 500 euro for a phone, it's 500 euro for the phone WITH a contract.

Considering that without a contract, Nokia's average (not low end) selling price is approximately €100, then you get an idea of just how massively expensive this is for a GSM phone that plays music and has some PDA functionality.

By the way, I've been hearing that Apple will not be allowing user installable applications:

That sort of premium brand recognition is something that all other phone manufacturers would kill for.

Can I interest you in some magic beans?

That seems strange, given that the SDK is being made publically available.

What's the point in having an SDK to a phone that can do fuck all? You may as well have an SDK for your toaster

Cmere you're talking a little bit of shit here, in order for this to really succeed they need to target a wider market than just PDAs which, as mentioned in a previous post, is really not that big a slice of the telecoms market.

Complaints about the price are perfectly valid, everyone can afford an ipod, not everyone a top of the range video ipod but its the fact they cover all price ranges that matters.

The Apple isn't even out yet and it's specs and features dont come anywhere near the Sony K800i.
