‘From Gentleman’s Daughter to Radical Action:
The Life, Work and Legacy of Nano Nagle (1718-1784)’
Dr Danielle O’Donovan
is the Programme Manager at Nano Nagle Place.
She holds a Ph.D. in Architectural History and an M.Sc. in Technology
and Learning from Trinity College Dublin. This talk will address Nano’s life,
the choices that might have been expected of her, and the singular,
difficult and inspiring path she chose. We will touch upon how Nano’s work
was carried onward by the Presentation Sisters.

Tuesday, April 10th
The good old days, they were not so good for women.
Nora O’Donovan
, Chairperson, Retired People’s Network.
Nora will talk about her experience growing up in the country in the 1950s
and ‘60s – a time that is a world apart from our modern society in which now
women play colourful diverse roles. Back then in the good old days, they
were not so good for women who were largely confined to the home and who
struggled to survive in a man’s world, a struggle they still continue today.

Wednesday, April 11th
Vera Lynn – The Forces Sweetheart
Amanda Neri
Ireland’s Bella Voce, Multi Award Winning Singer, Songwriter & MC.
Vera Lynn was the most famous singer of World War 2 and is now forever
known as the original “Forces Sweetheart”. Come and enjoy a trip down memory lane
with this brief homage saluting her life and music with some of her best-known
songs from her wartime experience also performed by Amanda.

Thursday, April 12th
How women can change the community, politics and themselves.
Angela Murphy
, Community Activist, Former Town Councillor, UCC Graduate.
How the impact of women can affect their communities. How that process
can help them to develop themselves and help them to
reach their full potential, in both their community,
politics and themselves.

Friday, April 13th
Meeting Women in the Fields of Science
Niamh O'Flynn
, Scientist, Wildlife Educator, Camera Operator and Photographer.
Will talk about her experience as an Animal Scientist : captive breeding & release programmes,
as a wildlife educator, her challenges, goals and the women in science she has met through
her life and who have influenced & contributed to science.
