Blow my hole? I guess you think a 2:1 rejection by the general membership of a potential leader is democracy in action

I have gone on record saying it is a ridiculous system many times here but that still doesn't negate the fact that they can organise a heave if needs be. The Shinnerbots sat on their hands for what was it 30/40/50 years. But shur look over there.

Toireasa Ferris has withdrawn her name off the sf ticket for next election for health reasons. I'd imagine the Healy raes will target that seat.

Worry for DOL is that if Green wave continues and Lorna Bogue is selected to run for GP and runs a good campaign, she might take a seat.
DOL is a good candidate though - has the very un SF ability to pull transfers from across the board. Think he'll be ok. Latest opinion poll would suggest Green wave may already have dipped and SF recovering a bit from piss poor results in May.
There has been a noticeable toning down of the cranky hectoring and complaining style beloved of Marylou and SF generally.

Big worry for JOB is that if Gould runs in a by election, he could win the seat and would then have a great chance of taking the SF seat in subsequent GE.
If no by election, JOB will be safe. A turnip running under SF banner would win a seat in North C.

JOB has an interview in the echo he says it is time SF return to concenrating
on helping working class people he admits the party got caught up in trying to appeal to middle ireland and many working class areas felt neglected,
He says membership in last few years has grown substantially but many of the new members are not the type to go canvassing,
