Just heard that a councillor in Offaly who resigned from SF last week joined Peadar Toibín's party today. Incidentally, that party will be known as Aontú.

Anti abortion party, can't see this going very far.
The people had their say, it's done, get over it.

True if they run on that platform alone. However one in three voted not to repeal and up to 50% in Donegal. Even if a candidate can pull 1/3 of that vote base, should be enough to get a council seat easily enough and good chance of a dail seat in some rural constituencies.

If TobÃ*n, etc makes it single issue party, can't see it getting much traction.
However, he's a sharp enough operator and if sells it correctly, broadening the appeal, could pull a few seats here and there.

Could hit FF candidates especially in marginal rural seats where they may lose enough older, conservative voters (who feel Mehole's about turn shafted them) to lose the seat.

Toibin is too smart for that! Clue is in the party name Aontu, there are many voters out there who feel that they are being totally ignored with issues around, health, housing and rural neglect etc.

Concentrate on the other things so. We aren't going back to a pre referendum state, most of those who would rather it reversed will be dead soon enough.
It's a done deal. Move on.
