It's usually an issue with your router, rather than Anything you have done on setting it up.

I had an older Eircom router, which I eventually discovered does not work with Chromecast, when I swapped it for a newer model, it worked fine, but as my broadband speed is not great the results were a little disappointing.

I hear other broadband providers also have issues with their routers, but changes can be made to get it working.

Is it any good? Is it worth buying?

Meh, unless you have Netflix, probably not. My son uses it to watch Minecraft videos on Youtube and that's about it. I was expecting more of it tbh.

I want something killer that doesn't cost the earth, that streams. I heard you can set up a Raspberry Pi to do so, but it's a bit pricey just to do that.

Sound.. Thanks... I thought it could be used to link a laptop with the TV instead of buying a separate DVD player...

For streaming, no. That's what I was hoping for too, especially with the connectivity of Windows 7. Doubtless someone out there has figured a way around it...

If I figure out a way around it, I'll post it here

I use a HDMI cable to stream from the laptop to the TV.

See I thought you wouldn't need this if you had a chromecast.

I was thinking of getting one for the brother for streaming laptop to TV.

Me too. My old laptop is permanently hooked up to the TV.
