Harper's closing. Great place for b movies, had pipes and dvds about fishing.
Shame to see it go

I was looking for a video I saw on North Main Street last week but found this instead.

This video is pretty awkward.

I've often heard people refer to "the North Main Street," or "the Grand Parade," or "the South Mall," but I've never heard people refer to "the Washington Street," or "the Patricks Street," or "the Merchants Quay."

Peanuts on airplanes: what's that all about?

Always wondered how Leaders was still doing business - hadn't been in their door in about 40 years. As a youngster my mother used to bring me and my brothers there for clothes but as an adult I've never returned despite their doing adult clothes. Prices on the window always seemed extortionate. But looks like they've cornered a niche market for the XXXXL gentlemen. Good luck to them.

As for the street names - could be down to anything, even the vagaries of the people who lived there and how they chose to refer to their home place, and others bowing to their "expertise".
Don't think anywhere that has street named after a person has "The" placed before it, so it's not surprising that Pana, Washington, Ollie Plunket etc don't have, whereas something with an inanimate name like North Main or Mall might.

Lolz, used love going in there as a child for the Levis, like Soundman , I never used Leaders as an adult.

Must tell my buddy Zack about the XXXXXXXXXXXXXX sizes available there, he'll be delighted, bless.

True.

Also explains "The Marina," and "The Mardyke."
