Rather than the next hurling manager the most important appointment in Cork gaa is the high performance director. Once that position is filled by the best candidate Cork teams should be ready to establish themselves amongst the top tier of teams in both codes again. Gary Keegan was a huge loss to the hurlers this past year and the chopping and changing of s&c coaches with the footballers over the past few years has been part of the reason that things have been as bad as they were.

What type of person will be looked at for high performance director? Would it necessarily be a gaa person?

Or could you be looking at a Declan Kidney type individual with high levels of experience in another role?

These days the importance of the manager's role can be greatly overstated. The backroom team, and in particular the actual coach are more important appointments in terms of Cork's fortunes for 2020.

Technically yes, but we actually don't, Meylers 2 year term ended at the defeat to Kilkenny, if he is to stay on he will have to be asked by the board

Fair point, r&b, and I see that you have included him as an option in fairness.

I just find the conversation in general slightly insensitive. Meyler and his management team maybe deserve a period of grace before we start handing out their dead man's shoes.
