I often thank my lucky stars that that never happened.

To do what he's done spending 5 million net per year is more than remarkable.

The reason why Wenger stayed and what will be the key to their success in the near future was the move to Ashburton Grove.
It's why Wenger has had no transfer funds to speak of .
Should a seriously quality player become available now it won't just be Man Utd and Chelsea with the funds to buy.
And let's not forget Man Utd only just won the Premiership last season despite Chelsea playing terribly.

Fergie has won the European Cup in that period.

Also he has won 3 domestic cups to Wengers 4.

I'll be the 1st to commend Wenger on his success in the transfer market & also say Fergie has bought some complete duds. However I'd still rather have wasted what Fergie has & have had his success than poach like Wenger has done while showing inconsistant title challenges.
disingenuous Ronny

United poached Rio, Saha, Tevez etc etc

Just have a differenet way of doing it.

If you have a list of "poached" players then post it up and we can examine it

I used the term poach to describe how he's got by on a tight budget, not as in hostile transfers.

For all Chelsea's terrible play, they still showed a knack of winning games while playing badly. Thats what Champions do. Wigan away, Reading away, Liverpool at home. These are all examples of Chelsea doing so last season.

United won 28 games last season if I'm correct. Chelsea did extremely well to stay in the title race against a team who showed such good form.

Wenger will never spend big money again, he got burned with Reyes and even though there's 70 million there for him to spend, it's just not in his nature to spend it

Jeffers will always remain his monumental fuck up.

Reyes had a great start but his homesickness added to the fact he didnt like being tackled meant he was never going to survive in the Prem.
