Why, why, why in god's name would you bet on a lowland team playing at altitude? Don't mean to be harsh, it's a cunt when an accie gets blown by one result, but you effectively flushed your money down the toilet the second you put Argentina on the docket.

does that mean that bolivia will beat argentina every single time in la paz????
if so then bolivia would have been the clear favourites... not argentina at 8/15 ....
ive been in la paz, i know about the altitude, but so do the argies.... and so does maradonna.
cant get em all right.

Because odds are dictated by who bets on who. Punters can get things wrong, but the bookies rarely get mugged. Have a gary off the odds discrepancies on England winning world cup, etc, between British and Foreign bookmakers for illustration of this.

Bolivia do have a brilliant home record in general. They've rarely had a good team (even their 1994 WC team was poor), so there must be something behind it. I'm sure there's a psychological side to it too, but ultimately that's got a sound basis.

In the greater scheme of things for Diego & co, I don't think this one counts for too much.

Argentina layers cleaned up tonight anyway. It's something to look out for in future - a side not used to playing at altitude having to travel for a midweek game having played on the saturday thus giving fuck all time for acclimatisation. Could be plenty of scope for landing a handy touch at the bookies!

i can remember bussing it up to cusco in peru from arequipa..... climatised on the way up .... slow assent in the bus. i was fine in the sense i wasnt sick.... my gf was sick for about 2 days....... apparently if you fly up .... you can get very sick after the cabin has decompressed. id say the argies flew up..... they might have been prepared for the sickness..... but the altitude would have you fucked up pretty quickly if you are trying to catch your breath.
when i was in la paz and we went anywhere in the city, i was like cunt afterwards cos we always had to walk uphill to get back to the hostel. la paz is like a bowl.
definately something to watch out for dan..... ill be keeping my eye out too.

Yup.

I'm stunned to hear the Argies were 8/15, although at the same time, maybe not entirely surprised.

I'll look out for mug odds on the Argies and Brazil in the Andes in future.

they all have trouble at equador as well which is even higher i think so lay them then as well. equador have an unbelievable record at home against even the best brazil and argentina teams.

well done bolivia. la paz is a great place to visit as well.

I presume you mean meters. I think La Paz is about 3,600 meters. Apparently an unfit person could function better than a fit person in altitude.
