Customs House Tower. (too big)
Apartment block at East Village Douglas. (fake chateau)
New Pairc Ui Chaoimh (A bogmans idea of modernity from Eastern Europe circa.1981)
Victoria Cross Apartments. (New Croydon)
Mahon Point S.C. (Bland and no ambition unlike Dundrum).
The ongoing destruction of Dublin with bland Hotels/offices/student blocks.

Planners have a lot to answer for.

I have not seen much on this South Link scheme but these whingers sound like awful eejits "How will my elderly granny cope with this monstrosity"? guff.
I'm in agreement with you on all those projects.

Add the Dunnes Stores carpark/shopping centre near the North Gate bridge to that list. Awful. Should be knocked.

As regards Customs house, the 'conservation' element of the design amounts to knocking most of the structure and retaining a facade. I agree with the Georgian society crowd, we have little enough of classic architecture in Cork without driving an excavator through that which does survive and calling it progress. It sets a dangerous precedent if it goes ahead

Well they are conserving all of the bonded warehouses and opening them up to the public. No conservation expert myself but my understanding is that the warehouses are far more valuable

Well if the other recent examples of 'conservation' are anything to go by I'd have little or no faith in their plans.

Read the plans, its mostly demolition.

in the city this morning and I understand that the #Cork event centre saga will feature in a series of meetings at the FG think-in today involving
@LeoVaradkar
and
@Paschald
and that we'll get "clarity" on the funding issues tomorrow.

Pascal O'Donoghue has the chequebook and it is locked away securely in his Star Wars themed safe at home is all I get from that.
