Went to this last night.

I thought it was excellent, really clever properly funny.

Much better than Anthony Jeselnik, the last big name fella I saw who treads much of the same ground.

First half better than the second half for me but he was on stage for 2 hours which is some going.

Yeah, same here - had a great time last night and it was my second time seeing this particular show. I saw it right at the beginning in London - a day or two after the Gregg Wallace news broke. Lots stayed in from then but a fair bit had changed too.

Two things frustrated me. The first - and this is a purely self-indulgent one - the fella sitting directly behind me had the most annoying laugh that I have encountered in a long time. It was almost performative - he was like an old school Vaudeville plant. He also had to keep repeating the punchlines and/or explaining the jokes to his companion.

Secondly - was this thing actually sold out? The Cork Opera House website had it listed thusly for months. Friends of mine have been contacting the ticket office for weeks looking for cancellations etc. only to be told it was booked solid. I was sitting halfway back on the ground floor and there were 5 seats right in front of me which were never occupied. There were clearly more empty rows/seats because Stew mentioned it but worked it into his act.

I thought that the lad sitting next to me was going to die from laughing during the Bob Dylan bit.

People bought tickets 6 months ago and and a skinful of pints during the afternoon and went home to bed.

The room felt full though the bar and jacks certainly did.

Yeah, the match definitely played into it. Walking through town at about half seven on my way to the show, it was a sea of unseasoned day-drinkers.

I was talking to a lad I know at the half-way point and he told me that a few of his mates chanced their arm at the box office and got balcony seats.

Stew's audience is middle-aged, bearded men and the very few women that they can convince to come along with them. The queue for the gents jacks definitely reflected that.

I didn't drink at all yesterday so I was spared that for the most part.

There is nothing quite as forlorn looking than a middle aged man in marching cap and jersey, no jacket sitting by himself in hillbilly's on McCurtain Street 7 hours after a loss in a Munster final.

Didn't drink much myself. Met a fella in le Chateau of all places first time in 20 years. fuckin €8.20 for a scraggy bay IPA.

Enjoyed it though, his physical comedy was fairly unexpected.

I am really looking forward to the Sam Campbell and Nish Kumar shows coming up.

Particularly the Campbell one. Anything is likely to happen.

Maybe its just me but I dont like Stewart Lee at all.

Critical darling who thinks he can be snotty about other more successful comics work.

Hes a few funny bits alright but his career looks to have stalled. Some of the interviews hes given just comes off as a bitter bollocks.
