New variants seem to stem from undrpriveleged areas due to obvious reasons.
In Africa at the Minute, it’s sad situation hard enough to find hand sanitizer no to mind a vaccine. In the end it boils down to education and finance that when all is said and done are the same thing. Of course the variants can mutate free as a bird in such conditions.

This NU variant is a concern if it travels as quickly as delta did...

We all said international air travel was going to kick this off again with new mutations.

The UK has banned flights from the affected countries and we are sat around with our thumb up our ass

With the hospitals in crisis already imagine what a vaccine resistant mutation would do to us.
Call me paranoid if you want but this one could signal troublesome times.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has recommended the wearing of masks for primary school children from third class upwards until the middle of February.

NPHET has recommended that children aged nine and over wear masks on public transport, in shops and in other public settings where the rule currently applies for those aged 13 and over.

Public health experts are advising tthat children avoid certain gatherings for at least the next two weeks, including nativity performances and other similar seasonal events.

They are also calling for a pause on indoor birthday parties, sleepovers and play dates.

However, small numbers could meet outdoors.

NPHET has also recommended the extension of the Covid certificate to all settings where there is a high risk of virus transmission.

Might it be something to do with us not having any flights to those countries? :D

Seriously though, the rest of Europe will have to do something, but in reality it's already probably too late.
