Wrexham

back on track today with a 4-1 win, 2 goals and an assist from McClean, Birmingham lost so top of table is now congested.

Wrexham look like playoff candidates this season rather than automatic promotion,
Birmingham & Wycombe to fight it out for top two spots,
McClean still doing the biz but Mullin hasnt scored for ages,

Wrexham up to 2nd now (with an extra match played) after Wycombe lost today,
Second match in a row with a late winner whereas earlier in the season they conceded late equalisers three times.
Also down to 3rd choice keeper Mark Howard who has played well.
Should make for interesting viewing in a few months. Wonder will the Blake Lively story get a mention or two?

an interesting match on your DB now, Barnsley 2-0 up on Wrexham at half time, two really good goals,
plenty pf Cork and Irish interest, Conor Hourihane is now assistant boss at Barnsley, they have a guy from Ennis-Cotter and a guy from Blarney McCarthy playing. Wreham have O'Connell, O'Connor and McClean

i can see the wrexham experiement blowing up before the end of this season.

1) I don't see them going up with the current squad / manager.
2) even if they did they'd need massive investment to be competitive in the championship. we've seen strikers moving there for £10m plus. reynolds and rob have money but are they prepared to invest that much more? they have other revenue streams but even so. the gap between L1 and the championship seems to be widening and more similar to the step up from champ to prem. the 3 promoted teams from last season occupy 3 of the bottom 4 spots in the champ with only portsmouth out of the relegation zone at the moment (just).
3) i'm not sure about others but my interest in the show has waned... haven't watched the latest season
4) reynolds might come out looking badly from this blake lively courtcase business. at the very least it must be a major distraction. she seems fairly awful.

my guess is that within the next 2 years they'll finesse it as having 'done what we came here to do' and try to get out.

Agree with much of this. The courtcase will occupy Reynolds possibly for the next two years and looks like a PR nightmare. Not being interested in celebrity gossip type stuff, I was sceptical of this show having seen so many uninspiring behind the scenes football documentaries. However I really enjoyed this and ended up binge-watching all three seasons around a year ago. I found it very well done in for example the way that they follow a few of the fans thru the season.
Many aspects of the story are really interesting and give an insight into the struggles of dozens of other clubs far removed from the big leagues. This season I have watched few full matches(thank you dodgy box) and despite hanging around 3rd place all season they seem slightly out of their depth. The squad looks jaded and could really do with one or two exciting young players. On the other hand, Birmingham, having stagnated for years, now look like a club ready to maybe do what Ipswich did. Everything about them makes Wrexham look small. Bournemouth and Brighton have spent much of their life at a similar level to Wrexham but have been so well run in recent years that they are now mixing in successfully with the big boys.

1-0 with a penalty rebound, with 8 matches left top 2 is very much on, playoff almost guaranteed 1742669900858.png
