Not really considering both of them are still minting it at their respective clubs.

He was grand.
It was good to see the reaction of the others when he got the goal and got sent off.
Rallied around him.
It was a good performance by the team last night, but as usual the focus is on the English player... The other english player was class, as was Raul, but Raul has been due a good game for about 3 years now!!
Slate away at Woodgate as you will but he was hard done by last night and should be a good defender (much needed).

He got in more trouble than (insert somebody who got in lots of trouble - apart from W. Samuel).
I think he got sent off in his first game back for whoever he was sold off to too!!!

I watched it as well, and this is pretty accurate. I'd stand up for him a little on the headers, when the long ones are coming over the top its the job of the full backs and the defensive midfielder to give him someone to aim the clearing header at, but Beckham (who tried hard) and Graveson (who was absolute shite) didn't seem to know who's job this was, and Roberto Carlos was often still 40 yards away when a quick long ball is played, so it leaves the centre backs a bit isolated. It was the first time I've seen Raul play well in a long, long time. He shouldn't be in that team anymore, or he should be playing off Ronaldo with Robinho used as an impact sub for the moment. With Ronaldo and Robinho, Raul becomes a luxury player, and Luxemburgo is clearly trying to invent a formation that allows him to play all three, whether it works or not. I think Graveson is being found out at the very top level as well.Up For The Ba said:I rate Woodgate quite highly but i thought he looked rusty last night, which of course he is going to, being out of the game for so long and add to that the pressure the team are under in general.
The own goal, what can you do, cant really fault him for that and i felt really sorry for him.
His first yellow was border line straight red IMO, disgraceful tackle and he was lucky not to have seriously injured his opponent. Cant really complain about the red in hindsight.
He looked comfortable on the ball and shadowed the strikers quite well but i thought some of his headed clearances were appalling, straight back to the opposition in dangerous areas.
I agree that it was great to see the players and the crowd rally around him, he`s had a tough year, last night wasnt the ideal start but luckily for him Madrid stepped it up in the second half. The introduction of Guti for the lacklustre Gravesen was a blessing in disguise. Hopefully Woodgate will go from strength to strength, i`m not sure Real is the right place for him to do that though.
