Woman in 20s dies after assualt in Limerick

Habib Shamel, 32, an Afghan national, appeared in Belfast Magistrates' Court by video link this morning.

The officer said Mr Shamel had arrived in Dublin from Afghanistan in October 2020 and claimed political asylum and had the right to be resident until next year.

Describing how Shamel prays at sunset and sunrise, cleanses himself after each prayer session and follows Ramadan fasting rules, “should he be confined into a prison setting, the prison service would not be able to fully facilitate his religious observances”.

When they changed the legislation around sex work a few years ago Amnesty International and the sex workers themselves said this kind of thing would be the output.

It's more difficult and punitive for them to operate as a brothel and they can't be as selective in their clientèle anymore. They are way more exposed to crazy degenerate men as a result with less protection from each other.

I am not into paying for sex. I am okay with two consenting adults reaching an economic agreement on the matter if they choose to do so. That equation really changes when the women have been trafficked into the country and are forced to participate which is the much greater of the evils

Better to license and regulate it in my opinion. Try to keep it out of the control of some of the most evil people imaginable.
