Will Holly Cairns improve the chances of the fledging Social Democrats

Ah now we should ban drug advertising including their non drug substitutes they use for advertising purposes.
Fast food isnt a drug. It's harmful but not a real drug.
Alcohol most definitely is as is nicotine.
Thing for me is where do we stop with nanny state, the zero alcohol alternatives is becoming a huge market and an alternative for many who don’t drink or don’t drink as often as our generation…Problem drinkers drink for the effect it has on them, advertising or no advertising…We would be better off spending dail time and finances on diagnosing mental health conditions at a young age so alcohol doesn’t become the cheap medicine for people to medicate their undiagnosed conditions..

I blame the parents
I’ve a youngster of similar age who doesn’t smoke or vape and if alcohol is the only drug he dabbles with we’ll be very happy.

Been out for pints with him on occasion and like his parents he’s a “happy drunk”- someone whose internal chemical reaction with the booze is to be in great humour. Alas not everyone reacts that way to booze but that shouldn’t stop it for the rest of us.

Probably controversial but I also think that as long as they are accompanied by a parent those over 16 should be permitted to drink a couple of beers, but not spirits. It’s done that way in countries like Belgium and Germany with responsible attitudes to alcohol. Ease the next generation into responsible drinking rather than have them face a cliff edge at 18 and they jump headlong into it usually with mates often trying to outdo each other

Are pubs strict on age these days? Back in the mid to late 90's 16 year olds would be served in most pubs.

Better to have young lads in pubs or in the company of their parents drinking pints than hanging out by the river bank or local gatting spot necking bottles of spirits

Youngster went out to Ollie Plunket recently and he needed TWO IDs. Though they accepted passport and passport card (same thing effectively).

I’d say the penalties for pubs with underage drinking just isn’t worth it for the publican.

Sounds quite like my youngster, minus the kebabs though. And he’s got a very eclectic taste in music.
The kebabs are when they're away, normally it would be O'Flynns sausage box 😉

My fella would be the same as yours for eclectic music, some of which I don't mind 😀
