Who else here misses 'a good funeral'?

That's an amazing story.

Especially considering that it's the undertaker and not the priest who would arrange transport from the church to the burial/crematorium.

Also amazing that the family of the deceased person, who organised the crematorium, didn't at any point stop the coffin being taken to the graveyard.

Yup, that's a pretty unbelievable story alright....

I think something similar happened in the Bobby Storey funeral if I remember correctly....

Maybe not, but then I don't have to listen to aul fellas talk absolute shite so it works for me...

;-)
Talking about aul fellas.....

Went to my elderly doctor and asked was I too old to get gender reconstruction.
I don't know what you're talking about says he, can you translate ?

Changed my mind in the end, couldn't afford to take a pay cut. ?

Was at a removal (are they still called that?) this evening of a parent of a very close friend of mine. It involved crossing over the county bounds and going deep into Yerrah country.

On the drive home I was listening to a few songs on my playlist but I also had time to reflect. I’ve been very fortunate that my parents remain in good health. They are getting older so it’s something I will have to face some day but whatever other issues I have going on seemed very minor. In my own quiet way it reaffirmed my appreciation of them.

Sorry for the soppy post.

Never be sorry kid.

Times like that give you time to reflect, look back, think, remember.

Life is short on this planet. We should make the most of what we get, and have.

We may not be here to enjoy it tomorrow. And while some people will say, who gives a shit, I'll be dead, so I don't care what happens.
They don't think of the ones you've left behind who will care, miss you, and go through months if not years of grief.

Make the most of what we get. We're lucky we're here at all.

My mother will be gone 4 years in May. Still trying to get over it. Absolutely devastated when she died. A part of you dies when your mother goes.

If I hadn’t such a great woman by my side, I could easily have gone off the tracks. I genuinely struggled to manage her loss.

Good to hear your parents are in good health btw, and long may that continue.

I’m really sorry to hear that m8. A support system is critical in dealing with grief.

I haven’t always been best pals with my mother but without needing to say it to either of my parents, it gave me a little poke too to appreciate them when they are here.
