White’s cross

Anyone see the WhatsApp going around about the glen allegedly holding a recruitment session in whites cross national school under the guise of cork gaa

What primary school in Cork is going to turn down a visit from a local sports celebrity like that?
They literally don't come any bigger than Rob Downey.

I could understand local club people getting a bit annoyed but lots of children in Ballyvolane and Dublin Hill would go to school in White's Cross but live near Glen Rovers pitches so it's not like they're over on the southside or out in Watergrasshill.

Rob Downey visiting on behalf of Cork GAA is one thing. An entourage from the Glen Rovers academy to the main primary school of another club is a bit different.

The County Board have shown their upmost concern for “protecting local identity” in slamming down on the amalgamations, I’d have thought this was a bigger danger to that.

You wouldn’t mind but there’s about 3,000 new homes being built north of Ballyvolane, and a few thousand more around Kilbarry. It’s not like they’re stuck for a pick.

And to make it worse, they’re attempting to get potential footballers to join fucking St. Nicks. Talk about smashing an egg before it hatches.
