Which sports book are you reading at the moment?

2 interesting characters alright.

I met Robbie in a bookies in Townsville Australia about 15 years ago when he was playing out there, he was an absolute gent, completely normal and sound, we had a quick chat and went our separate ways, A few days later I was walking down the street and a black BMW passes me and beeps with a fella sticking the thumb up to me and there was Robbie again :lol!:

A superb player and all round top fella.
Ah FFS fella, did I teach ya nuttin?

Don't be praising them SSBs in public. Now go to your room.

Just Finished the Racket by Conor Niland.

Good read well worth it.

He wrote it himself, no ghost, so it occasionally veers into "what I did on my summer holidays" but the upside is he avoids the template sports bio (First chapter, scene of triumph, 2nd chapter, early life, 3rd Gets a chance, 4th Diaster, 6th recovery, 7th back to scene of triumph from chapter 1, 8th I love my wife and kids and have forgiven my Dad, the prick)

Also he's very honest and self aware. Great stuff on doping, match fixing, Tennis Ireland being useless and the loneliness of a journeyman Pro.

I always assumed Pro Middle distance runner to be the lowest rung on the professional sports ladder but not so sure now. Futures tennis seems like a special type of hell.

the book crescendos very well with his account of his Slams, he does a point by point account of one of them and it reads like a thriller..

Good stuff all round

got States of Play by Miguel Delaney for Christmas. excellent book, the sheer scale of the money involved and how they worked their way into positions of influence in FIFA and UEFA is mind boggling.
Just finished the Fall of the House of FIFA so looking forward to read this book.

States of Play by Miguel Delaney

Football is rotten. Not that I didn't know, but when you have it all laid out by a decent writer..........

City won't suffer a bean from the EPL charges either. Cheating bastards. No wonder no one gives a fuck about their "achievements". Then you have that wanker Dias complaining that Southampton did a bit of time wasting today.

Yeah Ruben m8, really hitting the mark there.
