When are you putting up your Christmas Tree?

We won't be putting up a tree. Tempted to cancel Christmas as I am not religious. On the other hand, I don't mind getting people gifts, when it isn't their birthday. The big dinner and pot of mulled wine is pretty good too. Just causes so much problems for people. Anyone with a non traditional family will probably feel similar to me, I imagine.

I'm not religious either but always celebrate that time of year.

Sure the Christians only stole the idea of celebrating that time of year off other civilisations. Our ancestors all over Europe and beyond were marking the changing of seasons and winter solstice for millennia before this Jesus fella. Sure Jesus wasn't even born in December ffs.

I suppose most of us get a few days off work as well, so it isn't all bad. Just dreading it for personal reasons.

Bought the tree at the weekend.
Unlike previous years, this year all the trees were bound up in that plastic netting, so had to choose without really knowing how big they were, only how tall.
Just released it there. Sweet Jesus lads. It is as the gaelgoir kid put it 'ramhar'.
It would fit better in the Von Trapp mansion then in my smallish sitting room.
We had a bit of a struggle to close the door but finally managed it.

Mine has been up since the first week of November

Does it not dilute the whole thing, putting up the decorations so early?
I enjoy Christmas but for three weeks like, I'd be sick to death of it if I had to endure it for two months!
Not a single item goes up in our house until around the 7/8 of December and then it's full on festivities for three weeks, 2nd of January everything goes away again.
