whats your favourite Wolfe Tones song ?

any idea what that doc is called? would a seán south search on the tg4 player be enough?

i remember reading about him but ultra conservative but the rest of your post makes him out to be completely insane 😂😂😂

as an aside, my ex’s dad, a marxist swede, couldn’t wrap his mind around the irish republican (blowing things up for ireland) and the irish nationalist (politicking for ireland) and both aiming for the same result while being completely different ideologies.

we’re a strange breed.
I can't remember it sorry, nor can i find it on the player. it was the same crowd that did "1916 seachtar na Casca" about the easter rising leaders executed which is on there also well worth a watch. They had the likes of Lorcan Crannich and Brendan Gleeson involved

then there was a follow up series less good on the others shot in Kilmainham (Con Colbert and the likes) which is also on there and then a series on the likes of Sabhat

i had a nose around there but could t find it. thanks anyway.

if it’s still on the player crainn na héireann is well worth a watch. unreal majesty and tragedy in the trees of the country.

tobair is another decent watch.

edit duilleoga is probably one of my favourite irish words.

Wolfe Tones at the electric picnic was 5000 people who are genuine fans (no mean feat given how long they're on the road) and 45000 fucking gormless millenials standing around in a field listening to dirgey romantic ballads they wouldn't listen to in a million years for an hour or so so as they could shout "up the ra".

The following morning they were all back at their desks in KPMG or working in national schools, pharma companies and hospitals.

Fair fucks to the Tones, if they were playing in my garden I'd draw the curtains, but I begrudge them absolutely nothing because to be packing out halls at this stage of their career is a phenomenal achievement and they deserve every cent they're getting out of it.

But jesus christ, what does this say about the state of rock and fucking roll.
