What TV Series Are You Watching Now?

LastMan Season 2 6\10

The tonal shift in season 2 was so hard, it almost gave me whiplash. While s01 was a fast paced action comedy with horror elements, s02 is a horror with some action and comedy.

Set 10 years after the events of the first season, it becomes apparent early on that that ALOT has happened between the characters, some of the events we become privy to during the 6 episodes. The episodes are now ~40 minutes long and focus on 6 separate characters with some overlap and story threads woven in throughout.

The body horror is on another level and some of the stories points are down right depressing. Its actually very similar to Scavengers Regin once they reach "The Valley".

This is not for everyone
Is this streaming anywhere?

Almost finished Deep Space Nine.

It is magnificent. Probably a bit of recency bias here, but the last two seasons are as good as if not better than any Star Trek I've ever seen.

How the fuck it took me 30 years to get around to it, I'll never figure out.

The cast is just superb and the development of Worf (my favourite Star Trek character) is so well written.

Idiot producers turned down a Worf based series written by Michael Dorn and approved crap like Discovery.

Good to see Colm Meaney get a character that does more than stand in a transport room too. Some of the scenes between him and Bashir are lol funny. In fact, DSN did comedy better than any ST I've seen.

The only criticism is the Ferengi centric episodes. They're awful, bar the one where they travel back in time to Earth.

I liked the Ferengi episodes. Watching the small group of Ferengi develop over the course of the show, Rom, Nog, Zek, Moogi and Quark (but not Brunt) was amazing. Some clunkers of episodes but seeing the small group eventually evolve to be in a position to possibly change an entire civilisation (if you can call it that) was superb.

Also, if you haven't heard of it, there's a book by the guy who played Garak, Andrew Robinson. He wrote it during the show as a way for him to develop a relationship with his character. It goes into Garak's backstory, and then he added more about Garak's life after the show ends. It'd stand as a great sci-fi book in its own right but for DS9 fans and Star Trek fans it's a must read.
