i watched two opening episodes last night:
The Studio, a seth rogen creation with a bunch of well known comedy people (ike barinholz, kathryn hahn, numbers etc). rogen takes over as the head of a hollywood movie studio. i enjoyed this but it's not for everyone, receiving a thumbs down from 'er indoors so watched the rest of the ep while she slumbered. very inside hollywoody so if you don't get the references it won't be for you as it's heavy on them. martin scorcese plays himself in this ep and is quite funny in it. the plotlines / character behaviour are a bit hard to believe but it's done with a bit of flair and has a nice pacing.

Your Friends and Neighbours - the new jon hamm vehicle. we get to see his funnier side, think of it as a cross between don draper and his fletch role. a bit of a wobbly opening but it soon settles down and is an enjoyable tale of a top TOP nyc finance guy who loses the lot, or so we are led to believe from the opener. i had lowish expectations of this but i really enjoyed it, a nice blend of story and bits of humour in there. it's very much hamm's show but he delivers.
