What TV Series Are You Watching Now?

i might take 3 goes to watch an episode of a show these days. there are the shows i watch with 'er indoors and those i watch alone and the model of splitting it up works for me. a movie might take 4-5 20ish minute chunks, or i might watch 45-60 mins in a sitting. there are many factors which govern this approach but i am broadly ok with it.

streaming has changed how we consume what is (let's be honest here, though i suppose this is a separate conversation/debate) usually low value entertainment content so i would say let's not judge how we consume it too harshly if it doesn't affect others.

Fwiw, concentration can be improved with practice. It's like a muscle.

You could consider a mindfulness course maybe. There are some good free ones online that you could try out.

As a basic exercise though, try and sit ( or walk ) somewhere without distraction. No phone, no podcast, no music. Try to concentrate on the experience. What can you see, smell, feel etc.

Also, try reading a little, even if you don't want to. Books don't give the instant gratification of gaming, reels etc so we need to push past that discomfort in order to regain the habit. Set a timer for 10 mins to start, and see if you can read for that long.

It is very disheartening to make profound changes for the better and not feel the benefit. I hope that you feel better soon.
Thanks Mattie

I watched 30 minutes of gladiator 2. Stopped. Watched another 30 minutes the next night. Then said fuck it. This is absolute shit.
I think another aspect is how generally bad movies are these days
I could watch an 80s action movie like commando, predator, running man, blood sport, kickboxer, etc start to finish
These days the movies are toilet.

Watch Marathon Man. I think you'd like it. Dustin Hoffman 1970s

Exercise is very good.
Yeah but it mightn't conquer everything though.
I would have thought that getting fit and getting a good body to cause you to feel like superman.
Unfortunately it isn't that simple. Well maybe for some people it is. But if you've had bad stuff happen to you, if you've made poor lifestyle choices, if you've had substance abuse issues - then exercise might not be enough.

A round of pitch and putt will relax your mind.
Now we can get back to the thread about tv series.

I enjoy Silo 8/10 but the latest series has just ended and when one gets to a certain age one thinks will i ever see its end.

I'm watching ' You can't ask That '. 10/10

It's an Australian documentary series whereby marginalised or stigmatised groups speak about their experiences. They answer questions from the internet by random strangers. Very interesting.

Anything from Blind people , to Swingers, to disaster survivors, drag queens, homeless people, to people who escaped cults. I think there is about 4 seasons of it. It's eye opening to say the least.
