What TV Series Are You Watching Now?

Finished Chernobyl - it really is excellent stuff. I’m not great at history so learned a bit about the cause and what came next that I hadn’t been familiar with.

Gone back to succession now for the other end of the entertainment scale! Binge watching things doesn’t suit me I think because I just get bored once it all gets a bit samey. Really enjoyed last nights episode after the break, plenty of it left

Where are you in Succession? On S4 now here. Things have just become very interesting.

Hitting into the end of S2 so plenty of road ahead

I have a shocking attention span for TV other than sport, I suppose I just don't value it massively and really only see it as something to relax the mind in the gap between the kids going to bed and us heading ourselves. So I find that when we watch the same series every night it starts to grate on me as I don't watch anything else on TV in between other than sport. Watching 2 series at once and alternating is the best set-up for me, I'll need to start something else or I'll drift away from Succession again. Gotta say I was loving the dumbass 'executive' stuff Siobhans husband was coming out with again, I'd bored of it before.

I'm the same. No attention span anymore. Hence why I almost exclusively play games or watch youtube.
Can't concentrate anymore on a full tv episode or movie. It sucks and I've mentioned it to shrinks but they don't give a shit.
I might watch a tv show in two halfs like I'm trying to get through the Menendez brothers at the moment.

Give Superstore a go. Short episodes give a break between the hour long ones ?

Fwiw, concentration can be improved with practice. It's like a muscle.

You could consider a mindfulness course maybe. There are some good free ones online that you could try out.

As a basic exercise though, try and sit ( or walk ) somewhere without distraction. No phone, no podcast, no music. Try to concentrate on the experience. What can you see, smell, feel etc.

Also, try reading a little, even if you don't want to. Books don't give the instant gratification of gaming, reels etc so we need to push past that discomfort in order to regain the habit. Set a timer for 10 mins to start, and see if you can read for that long.

It is very disheartening to make profound changes for the better and not feel the benefit. I hope that you feel better soon.

i might take 3 goes to watch an episode of a show these days. there are the shows i watch with 'er indoors and those i watch alone and the model of splitting it up works for me. a movie might take 4-5 20ish minute chunks, or i might watch 45-60 mins in a sitting. there are many factors which govern this approach but i am broadly ok with it.

streaming has changed how we consume what is (let's be honest here, though i suppose this is a separate conversation/debate) usually low value entertainment content so i would say let's not judge how we consume it too harshly if it doesn't affect others.
