Interesting thread that’s been Soundy-fied to the nth degree dear
Grew up in college road area but my late mums side and dads side are vastly different
Dad’s side: his father was born in Grattan street, a Marshie and his mother was from Blarney street. My great grandfather was in WW1, in the royal engineers. He apparently trained IRA as well during the war of independence (still up for debate, my father is researching it currently).
Mums side: her father died in the 60s, but was born in Crosses green area near bishops street and her mother from Listowel/Tralee
My grandfathers aunts moved back from the US in the early 20th century after moving there during the famine.
They have very American names, likely Anglican/Episcopalian in some way.
My mother’s maiden name is an anglicised version of a common Irish surname.
My mother’s uncle was a canon in Dublin and had run ins with McQuaid.
