What Are Your Views, If A Burglar Breaks Into Your Home, And You Stab Him To Death?

Who's to say I was telling lies? If someone broke into my house at night i would be scared , it would be dark and I would try to scare them off rather than things getting messy but I sure as hell wouldn't be too worried if I did injure him. I have a rough idea of what I could do legally and I'm not a complete psycho but if I went to trial why shouldn't I play the jury? Who was in doing the breaking and entering, violating my home, threatening violence? Who was defending themselves, their hard earned possesions, their family?
Paddy Power wouldn't even give odds on that one.

Death is not the penelty for breaking & Entering. Nor should it be.

If you were honestly defending yourself then you will not be convicted. If you decide to murder someoen because they have broken into your house then you should be.

If you have kids in the house, you wouldn't care what the law was.

As the great Tony Martin said 'one less piece of vermin in the world'.

You can't just sit there and do nothing either.

no... of course not.

if you go down and confront someone and they attack you... then you can use reasonable force to defend yourself.

if you go down, tip toe up behind the burglywurgly and then without warning drive a 10' carving knife into his spine, liver and neck... you deserve to go to jail.

has anyone considered giving the burgly a cuddle?

i mean if you've got to resort to sneaking into people's homes in the middle of the night to nick a tv or a laptop, you've obviously got a bit of a shit life and maybe a cuddle might do you the world of good.

What a gentleman you are wolfy.

Would you battle the miscreant using Queensbury rules?

Maybe flintlock pistols or a sturdy rapier on the back garden, who would be your second at 3 in the morning?

No wolfy, if some burglar comes into your house uninvited, it's speed agression and whatever dirty trick will lay your man out fastest, or it'll be you or your family on the mortuary slab.

I agree with both you and Matlock in that you can't just kill someone the problem is the law is an ass. Bloke I know had his van broken into and he caught the bastard. The thief tried to brain the van driver with a pipe that he found in the cab. Van driver manages to disarm the guy and in the process hit him a few slaps to restrain him breaking the thief's arm in the process. van driver gets sued by thief. In court van driver asked why did he do this? van driver said he was scared that the guy would pull a knife as he already has shown that he was willing to use force. End result judge found in favour of thief and awarded him 20,000 euro.

I supppose the best way to put it is that while I'm not advocating summary justice I certainly don't have any sympathy for the criminal if they get injured or killed.
