Went up a mountain yesterday..

There's loads of lovely hikes in the Ballyhouras, but none as strenuous as Galtymore.

This is a nice one, that takes in Seefin (which is the highest point of those hills)

They are all very enjoyable, but I would put them in the realm of walks rather than climbs.
Nice one. Those look great. .

Just back off the blackrock loop. Great shout

The stretch up over seefin is well worth it.

The back side of the trail is down a shitty enough forest road through sitka spruce but once you hit the broadleaf woods at the end it's magic..Well worth the spin up there.

We came across about 3 different lodges of beaver scouts off on an adventure too which was class.

Fantastic pics!
You were very lucky with the weather!
Soft boggy underfoot?

I always climbed the galtys from the black road on the south facing side
Yeah, I thought yesterday they might have to call it off but the weather played ball this morning. There is a walking festival in the Ballyhouras this weekend and they put so much work into it so it would be soul destroying for them to have to cancel events.

Boggy enough alright, but very manageable with walking poles

I heard of that walking festival going back years, weather was kind to be fair!
Fair play to them, takes a lot of organising

They’re selling walking poles in Lidl this week as well!
