Hezbolla actually stopped thinking Israel would stop. Israel being Israel they lied and carried on as before. Subsequently Hezbollah started up again.
It was covered at the time but probably lost in the fog of “they’re both as bad as each other” narrative.

Israel can’t be trusted in their “Peace” in Gaza - there’s only rubble and tents there and still they bomb. And Israel can’t be trusted in Lebanon. And surprise surprise they started the war with Iran too.

I just posted what the BBC reported, that basically there was no ceasefire, if that isn't true I stand corrected as I said. However I've seen nothing that states what the BBC reported was untrue.
Further more both Hezbollah and Israel reported the breaches in April, so no one actually knows the truth as they both are extremely untrustful.

47 UNIFIL troops died in total - an alarming number due to road traffic accidents.

15 (not even a third) I make it that were killed "under fire"

• Sean Rooney killed by Hezbollah
• William Kedian killed by Israeli militia
• Corporal Peter Ward killed by Hezbollah
• Corporal Fintan Heneghan, Private Thomas Wlash, Private Mannix Armstrong killed by suspected Hezbollah landmine in 1989
• Private Michael McNeela killed by Israeli militia 1989
• Corporal Dermot McLoughlin killed by Israeli forces
• Private William O'Brien killed by Israeli militia 1986
• Lieutenant Aengus Murphy killed in explosion 1986 - Hezbollah linked though different group

So that's 7 Irish troops serving with UNIFIL killed in action by Israel/Israeli militia, and 8 by the other side including Hezbollah/PLO/etc

Actually firing at or on UN troops in Lebanon the Israelis tended to carry out more threatening attacks.

I meet many UNIFIL veterans on an almost weekly basis and they hate the Israelis with very good reason. They don't like the "Hairies" either but while Hezbollah are recognised as terrorists the IDF are just a much better armed bunch of terrorists with a far better PR machine.

My disgust with Israel has nothing to do with "Jew hating" and there are and have been many many Jews who have been disgusted with Israel's carry on. The notion that criticism of Israel is only "Jew hating" is the transparent tactic to deflect when zionists have lost the argument.
