Was Michael Collins right?

I see where your man. Dr. David McCullagh is giving this year's oration at Beal na Blather.
I wounder if he will jump ship out of RTE and pick up a lucrative job in Europe as a reward.
Simon Harrirs has it within his gift to hand out these hobby jobs.
Unless he says Collins was a murderous bustard.

If Micheal Collins was around today he would think Meridian is a right asshole.

When did the IRA sieze a boatload of guns from a British ship and land them ay Ballycotton?
Not sure how I missed this thread.

In answer to your question it was 1922, AFTER the Truce that the Cork Republicans, who almost all took the anti-treaty side in the Civil War.
There’s a good enough book called The Ballycotton Job on the topic involving the Upnor

Despite his reputation as a bit of a womaniser, there have long been stories that Collins had homosexual tendencies - but that’s probably what helped him infiltrate British intelligence 😜

Beal na Blath was indeed a poor choice from a military point of view by Collins, but then again he was a bit the worse for drink at the time.

Possibly the fatal shot came from a kerryman (one of the theories) but far more likely he was one of many retreating west from Cork City than setting off on the day from Kenmare for an ambush only decided on that morning after Collins’s party stopped at Long’s Bar to ask for directions

Wouldn’t blame Collins for the 26/6 county split any more than I’d blame dev tbh
