Surprised this hasn't yet been mentioned anywhere on the forum.
Has anyone had a play around with any of these Vibe Coding tools?
I played a little with rocket.new but quickly ran out of credits, but have had a bit more joy with Firebase Studio (from Google) which doesn't seem to have such usage limitations. Still playing around with building the features for a basic app - and a little fearful that I'll get to a decent looking app and find it tricky to productionalise it. Let's see.
The main tools seem to be: Cursor, Replit, Bolt.new, Lovable, v0 - but there are plenty more.

What is it? "Vibe coding" is a recently coined term (February 2025 by Andrej Karpathy) that describes a new approach to software development, heavily reliant on Artificial Intelligence, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs). The core idea is to generate code by providing natural language prompts rather than writing it manually.
In vibe coding, the developer's role shifts from a traditional coder to more of a guide, tester, and refiner. You express your "vibe" or intention in plain language, and the AI translates that into functional code.

You don't need code to be a programmer. But you do need expertise | John Naughton
AI is so good at writing software that one father asked it to organise his kids’ school lunches. But that doesn’t mean it’s taking over
