Because one of the techniques of taking over as a dictator is to establish your own mini army to maintain domestic control.

THink the SS or Varangian guard. A cadre of very loyal, well paid and heavily armed thugs loyal only to the leader makes it an awful lot harder to remove them from power.

And if a few key enemies happen to brutally cut their own heads off while shaving, well that's convenient.

They'd need to merge the National Guard and ICE under Homeland Security for it to work properly though. That's easily done.

The US can call their military interventions all kinds of fluffy names like "Operation Restore Hope", "Operation Uphold Democracy", "Operation Provide Comfort" "Operation Inherent Resolve" and so on but the US are still using multimillion dollar munitions to kill innocent women and children around the world - sounds more like the actions of a Terrorist State than World Police to me.

Trump sees that Putin (and Netanyahu) can attack civilians and non-combatants with no consequences. So of course he's going to do the same.

Fuck's sake he kidnapped the president of Venezuela, and nobody said a thing - not even the EU.

Say what you want about Maduro's legitimacy, but snatching world leaders you don't like is a slippery slope.

I saw someone quip previously that the War on Iran was going so badly that Trump was thinking of releasing the Epstein files to distract from it.

And now it seems the US is insolvent - well Trump does have a number of bankruptcies to his name - but it slipped under the radar thanks to his embroiling the US in a war on Iran at Israel’s behest.
