Tunnel/Dunkettle traffic in morning

With the volume of traffic from Glouthane / M8 all the way through the tunnel and out the M40 towards Wilton, I firmly believe there should be at least 2 motorcycle Gardai on those roads at rush hours to intervene quickly in order to keep the traffic moving.
After all that road is an essential link for Ambulances also going to CUH.

Hope all are ok and no one injured. More generally, the city seems to have absolutely zero resilience to even the most ’straightforward’ incident on the roads around the city, and in particular the tunnel. A mildly disruptive incident in the tunnel has seen the city gridlock up to 8pm in the evening on numerous occasions the last few years.

A few months ago we were heading east and there got stuck in standstill traffic heading northbound. A poor fella on a motorbike had been killed that morning, but 6 hours later the scene hadn't been cleared and it was still down to one lane.

Is that really necessary like? Surely the scene should be cleared straight away

The Gardai are too busy policing the Pana ban to be out dealing with serious incidents

To be honest I’ve no issue with that. Too many people take the convenient option and drive into town especially from East Cork. There are trains from Glounthaune and Little Island to Kent every 15 minutes and every 30 minutes from Midleton yet they are rarely full.
