Most of us understand that we are in the middle of seismic changes in World Order.
We have moved from a Rules Based Order towards Might is Right. NATO (in it's current format) is much less effective. primarily due to uncertainty on Article 5. Institutions like the UN, ICJ etc are pretty much a farce. Many more states (Japan, S Korea, Middle East Etc) will employ nuclear deterrents and this will present obvious challenges.
USA is no longer an ally that can be relied on. (when a POTUS states that Ru should be part of a G8, then you know that US is not reliable - a super power country that can elect a buffoon like Trump is potentially very dangerous) Europe must rapidly build up our armed forces and military industrial complex, we must forge other alliances based on new principles.
The EU & UK must change the way we promote and enforce our rules based order - We need new mechanisms in the EU to allow us remove member states like Hungary & Slovakia. Trading with rogue nations like Ru, China, Iran & N Korea is not viable in the medium/long term. The underlying policy of the Graham US Sanctions Bill is essentially the only feasible strategy.
Thankfully the penny has dropped with Germany - It has finally got a leader who understands the new reality as distinct from imbeciles like Merkel and Scholz. That offers us real hope for the future.
We are at war with Ru and it's rogue support states - it will take some time before the penny drops here and we relinquish our inane neutral/free loading position.
No point in getting depressed or overwhelmed by the new reality - we must appreciate the change and drive on.
