One thing though, almost all our textiles come from China and Asia in general. I don't think we could compete with them (at least at the lower end of the market, sure there's a market for Christians, Pres and Aran jumpers and the like). So if we put 50 % tariffs on clothes from these country's I don't see how that would grow an Irish industry in these low to medium quality clothes, do you? Irish people will not work for the hourly wage needed to make those clothes competitive. And do we really need an Irish clothes industry either?

Now Trump, on a hot mike, has said he wants to deport the "home grown ones are next" and that "you guys are going to have to build 5 more places, it's not big enough".
