Have you ever actually listened to LGBT+ people speaking about their experiences of realising they are gay/bi etc and how they come out? Very often they live a lie before that happens. Varadkar was no different.

He'd have been fairly sure that him coming out as a gay man would have no adverse consequences for his political career.

He did the calculations fella. No bravery involved. Now if you want to talk about David Norris who has been an advocate for gay rights long before it was "comfortable " to be, that's real courage.

Leo came out 10 months before the referendum. He had ample opportunity to do it before then. He admitted he went too far in trying to prohibit gay rights.
