He still has a huge number of contacts there and knows the place very well, and he's totally blasé about the mid-terms, convinced that there's such a ground swell of anti Trump feeling that the Republicans are going to be wiped out. If people can't vote, that won't happen. He's so close to America that he has the same level of delusion that they do. A coup is always unthinkable, until it happens. Then, you can look back and see how it was coming, and wonder how people misread the signs. It's already happening.

Trump caused that riot on the Capital building, it was incredible that such a thing could have occured over there, neverlone him being re elected to become President.
The more I am learning about the US, the more I am disliking it.
I for one will be surprised firstly if the mid terms actually occur and secondly that all will be above board.

One good thing (in general) is that voting is owned and controlled locally. The Feds don’t own it. Trump has belched recently at the Feds should control the elections because of “reasons”. And maybe he will gin up one of his fake emergencies. But I can tell you, having been an election judge, they there isn’t much time to do something since they are complicated to run. Trump could try to just cancel the midterms. But this has never been done in our history. People would treat that as a coup.

People are less and less believing in Trump’s crises and emergencies. This makes it less likely that Trump could gin up another of these to cancel the voting outright. Or if he tried, it would only be temporary since the judges would not allow it.

There will be more, probably much more of purely local screwing around by Republicans though. But I don’t think that this will affect the major trends.

Noem Can't Explain Why She Hired 8-Day-Old Company for Ad Campaign​

The Department of Homeland Security tapped a little-known ad firm to produce Kristi Noem’s multimillion-dollar ad campaign during the government shutdown last year. But when asked to explain her rationale before a House Oversight Committee hearing Wednesday, Noem was practically speechless.

Reading off a DHS notice, Colorado Representative Joe Neguse noted that the department had identified just four companies “out of the hundreds of thousands of companies in the United States” as potential hires for the campaign.

The money from Noem’s agency was funneling directly into the pockets of her friends and allies at the Strategy Group, a group with myriad ties to the ex–South Dakota governor, including having once employed her alleged beau (Corey Lewandowski) and a CEO who is married to Noem’s ex-chief DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin.

Safe America Media, meanwhile, has no website, no experience, and quiet contracts. The only substantial evidence that the company actually exists at all is that it shares an address with a property owned by veteran Republican operative Michael McElwain.
