Training Run Times

Flipping hell, Terrier. I'd kill for those long runs. I'm only up to 22kms. I'll have to get my shit together. Hoping to go 25 the coming weekend and eventually a couple of 32k/20 miles in Oct/Nov. The aim, if there is one, is to creep under 3.30 in Valencia. Going to be tough I reckon. One of my issues is almost all me old running mates are now too fast for me and a new colleague, who's made great progress, is a bit slow. We'll see. I'm also at shockingly low mileage. 3 or 4 runs a week for a total of about 50k if I'm lucky.

Don't know if I should throw in a small bit of "speed" in one run to make the M pace feel easier or is that a mug's game at my age and pace?

On a side note, my 'student' did Berlin yesterday in 2.27.52. Like all youngsters he went out a bit fast and at a pace we hadn't really discussed at all. I was surprised when I saw a text a few hours before the off saying he was looking to do the first half in 1.12.15. Shit, I thought he was looking for 2.26, not 24. Anyway, suffered but bagged a small pb. It was only his 4th ever marathon.
You’re bang on schedule C. - Valencia is 6 weeks after Dublin so you should be hitting the 30km+ runs in around 3 to 4 weeks from now.

Jaysus, Terrier, I can barely run up a slope these days. The fooking hills at 19 miles would kill me dead, as they say. Not to mention the downhill shite to start. I'm seriously thinking of 'parking' the marathon stuff after December. All the cool dudes will be targeting the 10k next year.
