Training Run Times

I've seen footage of the narrow crowd on Washington Street. Looks class, like something from the mountain stages of the Tour de France.

Did they keep that for the entire day or was it just for the faster finishers?

I was stewarding at the corner at the end of that stretch Nelly - the final corner of the race. While the video looks cool, it was impossible for runners to pass each other because of the crowd - you had slow runners and groups holding up faster runners coming from behind and there were a number of collisions and falls. Don't forget the runners finishing the half were flying along and being restricted into dangerous situations by these "supporters". Looks great on that video but look how slow that cameraman was running - holding up a huge crowd behind him so that he could get his video. Apart from the 10m before the corner, the organisers had only barriered one side of the stret - I couldn't believe it when I went on duty and it was too late to change it then.

Five of us were trying to move the crowds back but as soon as you'd move them, they'd just run onto the road again. The abuse they gave us was shocking too. Eventually the cops had to move in. It'll be barriers on both sides all the way out along Washington Street next year I'd say.

Cracking run & equally great report Guapo. Sorry i didnt meet you Saturday morning at Ellen's run, no doubt will do some time in the future.

Terrier is the last fella to look for plaudits however his organising that of beautiful get together in Saturday morning in memory of Ellen Cassidy provided such a lift to so many of her family & friends on what was going to be a very tough weekend for them.
Across the shakeout run & the race weekend itself, everything was done so tastefully and the whole of the running community bought into it all. It was really was very special to be part of.
Take a bow Terrier.

See the issue there is that everyone looks fast compared to me! There's a lot to consider there alright.

My initial thought is that it must have been early on but that would have been a nightmare once the masses came steaming in.

Absolutely no need for abuse too.
