Training Run Times

MTU 10k
First half mile very congested as we turned left onto Melbourne road, left again onto model farm Rd and passed the tennis village,
Passed the one mile mark and turned left,
Hit mile 2 at st olivers cemetery and felt fine,
Turned left onto clash road,
Eventually came to the flyover onto curraheen Rd, Turned left and passed Murphy’s farm pitches, Through the housing estate and back onto Melbourne Rd,
Left again into MTU , My watch pinged 10k
just as we hit the track, There was still 200m
Or so to go the finish line, My watch showed
53, 25, Happy enough,

Strange run this morning.. the plan was for it to be my 16km run stepping it up 2km per week. I didn’t sleep well, awake during the night, then slept later than I usually would and woke with a fair bit of lower back discomfort. Because of kids sports I was under pressure so I fid a bit of stretching but no time for breakfast so I made a smoothie

Went off running and felt ok, but from about 7km i was feeling g like the whole thing was a massive effort, I was in the park so easy to change the distance, so I headed for home again. Finished bang on 10km but absolutely fecked after it.

I checked my watch when I was done and it turns out that I ran at 5:15/km average with the early kms in at 5:04-07. That’s 10 secs/km faster than last weeks 14km which was fine

I was glad to see the pace because I was writing it off as a shit run and blaming my back/tiredness/lack of food.. maybe it was a combination of everything? Not sure what to make of it
Would you normally have a bit of food pre run? Lack of sleep another factor

Nice weather for a run, I’m watching the hurling on TV and it looks nice and sunny in cork. Manky weather in dub this morning

Have we no one running the Dublin marathon here? No talk of it

My sister in law is at 26km, on course for a 3:08 finish

I was out for my 16km run yesterday morning, felt the abductor on the left at about 9km, got progressively worse and the hill at 12km really got it. Forged on to 15.5km and stopped .5 from home. I got the ice on it and Volterol, hopefully it’s not too bad or I’m in trouble for the HM in 3 weeks
