Training Run Times

On that note, Terrier, I was half thinking of turning the Daddy of them all around.... And making it 1,2,3,4,5. I'm wondering would that be too much though. I also think the 3x8k with 800mts steady - not easy - between is tougher than the aforementioned Daddy.
Depends what you want to get out of the session. Either way, you're doing 1 or 2 miles warmup, then session (which is 15 miles with maybe another two miles of floating), then two miles warm down. So that's 21 or 22 miles, a massive workout.

The way I always looked at it, the session is all about form and quality - technique and fitness combining to give you the prefect marathon test about 1 month out from the race. The feeling of excitement also builds through the descending numbers - by the time you get to 3,2,1, you're flying, and the pieces come super-easy. You're almost laughing by the time the 1 comes around. Pass the test, and you have super confidence coming through the last 4 weeks.

The 1,2,3,4,5 might be a session you'd run earlier in the program - maybe 8 weeks out. It would be a slog, but great training if you can handle the MP OK.

Thanks Marky. 2nd platelets injection last Monday. I have zero confidence that it will fix the problem. I'm doing all the rehab an'all - but don't hold much hope of a "recovery"-based fix
is it Declan Bowler giving you the PRP?

You're about the 3rd person I've heard get it..

I remember yer man Hans Muller Wolfharte giving the injections to Arjen Robbin and Michael Owen about 20 years ago and having to justify to WADA or whatever they were called the that it wasn't just blood doping

Its mad how those techniques filter down

I was speaking to one elite level lad who's had a few of the PRP injections. Called it liquid gold, but my physio said there was almost zero scientific evidence. So, take your pick! Of course, if something works for you, you'll naturally think it's bloody brilliant!

It's Joe Jordan doing it Guapo - he's part of the Eanna Falvey practice. Declan Bowler did my hip op in 2018 - I found him excellent.

It is blood doping of a sort - as in they manipulate your blood. Take 10cc from the arm, whiz it in the centrifuge, scrape out the platelets into a solution, and then inject it into the joint.

There is indeed no scientific evidence. Young, fit athletes like Owen or Robben or Carmona's elite lad might just be getting the placebo boost but in my case, there was no healing at all in the 4 months before the treatment. So I don't think you'll get much benefit putting high octane fuel into a car that's not started.

I'll drink the kool aid and do all the rehab but am very sceptical and at €250 a jab, I don't need to sign up with the Nigerian princes to feel a bit ripped off!
In my head, it's close to the horse placenta thing that footballers were doing around 10 years ago. However, anything to avoid the surgery if we can.

I know its different but I was speaking with a fella yesterday who competes at a decent level, has come 2nd/3rd in races. He was telling me that he had been training for an event a while back and the week of it his body went really low on him, so he went to a place I wont name and they hooked him up to an IV to run some stuff through him. Reckoned it didnt get him 100% but way above where he was

I'd be naturally wary of this stuff so asked him what was in the IV - no idea!
I'm sure it was probably vitamins and a few other things to give him a boost, but I cant believe he just let someone run this through him without questioning it!

Bitchez be crazy.

I know, Honky, but fellas trust medical people and they believe what they want to believe. So, the placebo is a big thing, and I also think being young as Terrier cited helps too. If I was told, two or three of these injections and that hip won't be at ya for another 5 years, I'd be like, JAB me now, baby. Jab me now.

Party Girl IV! sure Rihanna and the gurlz wouldn't be without them. Iron and B vitamins

Banned last year by WADA and out of competition mostly because of fellas rehydrating using IV for combat sports unless under TUE.

You're probably right!

I'll only take a tablet if absolutely necessary, so the idea of having something you don't even understand pumped through your is nuts!

You'll be posting on here about the benefits of deer antler spray and harvesting stem cells from your children in about 12 months.
