Training Run Times

Agreed - however, high 2:23 to win the full and only 5 under 2:30 wasn't that fast. About normal for Cork I suppose.

Women's field was very light - only one sub-3 and only 6 under 3:15

It's not a PB course though - and a huge number completed the event (y)
It was mad watching the full race go through from a single point, like a normal distribution in real time.

Median was way closer to 4hours then expected.

I'd say there was about 10 lads in with the 3hr baloons at mile 16.

3:45 was just mass of humanity (swelled by hald mara convergence), Gavin Sweeney the 3rd placer was weaving though bodies like Brian O'Driscoll in his pomp.

Water was gone by the 4:30/4:45 crowd. the walkers seemed not to mind too much. it was like they are used to it.

After my chat with EL G a bit back I have decided to make a log of all training for the last 12 months which is when I would have decided to do the first tri and stepped things up. Then plan out the next 5 months to cover the trips this summer and through to the Clontarf HM in November. I'll incorporate some varied running training then to try improve that end of things and need to get my ass back in the pool/sea asap, I've realised that I got a mountain of swimming in last year and haven't been in since October

Will take a while to compile, I might lash it up here when I have it together

4hrs - give or take - is defo the mode. I'd say if you were on the Straight Road it might have been a bit slower than 4 due to the heat.

I was in that "vacuum" just above 3 in Seville, and the road was definitely quiter than earlier.

Sunday was a prime example of how each person varies, I met people who were gutted not to dip under 4 hours, But i also met people
who were over the moon to finish the 10k in 65 minutes,

The old Terrier getting salty with me. Jaysus, how was I to know you were injured M8? I mean, normally you'd tell us beforehand tbf. ? Anyway, you've been giving those poor knees a terrible going over for 16 years or so, as have I. It's survival mode now I'm afraid.
