I think Carlow is a grand town. Can't beat a Sunday roast and a match in the Dinn Ri hotel

I'm only in and out for work so don't know the place that well but have always found the people in Carlow really sound.

Used be a great Wetherspoons there, the Tullow Gate.

The rooftop beer garden had views over whatever mountains are in that area.

My uncle in law (is that a thing) had a distillery in Bagnelstown. The Irishman/Writers Tears are his. The distillery was in Carlow but not a drop of whiskey was ever made there, it was all made in Midleton

Dunno, a technical college but I don't think they do as much as MIT here like variety wise
