the wine thread

Having a glass of 2019 Chateau d'Agassac here. A nice drop of Haut Médoc, though probably a bit young. Opened it last night with a bit of ribeye. Tonight's a pinsa 😂. Not the most Bordeaux of Bordeaux but pleasant enough.
Love my Haut Medoc so I do, definitely the more age the merrier though. 4 years should be fine

Happy Beaujolais Niveau day chaps.

if you don't celebrate, I pity you, you poor half alive bastard.

Also I'm aware that the actual day was last week but it takes a while for oiks like me to get my shit together.

Pip pip

Picked up 3x6 bottles of Italian there for just under a tenner a head. Half dozen each of Peri Peri, Malpenso from Sicily. Have had it before, grand drop, came in at 8e something. Six Morellino di Scansano from the Fattore le Pupille people also at 8.xx. And the last one, the only one that I don't know, a Rosso di Montalcino called La Rasina that was about 12.50 after the reduction....... Hoping that last one is nice now.

They always exagerrate the 'original' price before offering a buy 6 get 6 free thing, but hey even if it was only 18 bucks a bottle before the reduction.

Did you get that in Bubble Bros.?

They were running a clever deal on it last week - tied in with On The Pig's Back - so you'd get a fancy baguette and a lump of brie to go with it.

Kind of, I live up near St Lukes and Bubble bros stock the wine in O'Keeffe's so you get all the plonk but none of the value proposition.

It's still way better than the offy across the road which is basically only good for cans of flavoured vodka to appease the gig going set.

That reminds me.. I have yet to pop in but Supervalu have a really good 'premium wines' offering on the go at the moment. They have reduced a bunch of their better wines to €15 a bottle which a tenner off what most of them would sell for ordinarily. They have:

Marques de Riscal Reserva (2020)
Marques de Caceres Gran Reserva (2011)
Faustino 1 GR (2104)
Costa Mediana Amarone (2014)

Thats savage value at that price point, they also have a CuP but I dont know if its a good one - having said that the Giggy from the same producer is great so chances are it is also decent.

For whites they have a Chablis, Sancerre and a Pouilly Fuisse all at €15 as well

Ill be popping in this evening to relieve them of some stock
