the wine thread

You'll notice the vanilla in that, mate. Wife picked up a couple of Viña Pomal Reservas this morning. Buy one, get one free! Works out at about 6.80 a bottle.
I paid 8.60 for a bottle in Mercadona in Seville.
Haven't opened it yet because the wife wanted white so we opened a white semi dulce rioja which is easy drinking which is more her speed.

Went and got more of that Echinops over the weekend before the sales ends. Great stuff.

Also got another one of these - which I really recommend also.

Got a bottle of this Bordeaux - had high hopes after a lad working in Curious Wines sung its praises. It was brutal. Really raw. Most of it went into a pasta sauce on Sunday.

Avoid.

I’ve posted this wine before and it’s on sale again now in O Briens, just got myself some. 2015 Gran Reserva from Rioja Alta, nice complex one and really good value at €14.95 a go

Right, Mange - I've ordered 3 bottles of this. I will clatter you if it's not nice.

I also ordered one of each of these below.

A Negroamaro whose tasting notes are saying all the right things to me. Good price, worth a punt. It'll have some job to beat Schola Sarmenti's Roccamora Negroamaro though!

And this Rioja - because I'm a sucker for advertising;

mistake No. 1 - you should have ordered more as delivery is free for €100+

mistake No. 2 - taking my advice :)

The Patternina GR is a lovely drop, I'm fairly confident you'll be happy enough. Their reserva is the Marques de Concordia which is also a super rioja, you can pick it up for around €12 at certain times of the year if you watch them. I buy a good lash of the GR each year when they reduce it so theres always some of it knocking about

No idea about the Primitivo - I know you're a fan so it might well hit the mark. I have fallen out of love with it TBH, find a lot of them are big fruit bombs which I'm not mad for. The more negroamaro the better in it for me as its a bit darker. The missus likes them though so she's not too happy with my stance :)

I'm not a huge fan of the Monte Real, theres nothing wrong with it but I dont think theres anything particularly great about either, and it would never come anywhere near justifying the original price point.

LOL

Fawkin back yourself Honkey

Right then.. CrispY, if you dont like it you are a know-nothing, Buckfast swilling, degenerate

better?

For the price point its a super wine and from the best wine producing area in rioja, there are better ones but you'd be at the top table looking at Vina Tondonia, Ardenza or something along those lines and prices

Mange - do you really think that I didn't break a hundred lids on gatt to just to save myself the €7.50 delivery charge?

This is the wine thread. What good would it do me putting the list of craft beers that I ordered in here?

I'll tell what would have happened, shall I? You would have said;

"Don't do craft beers much. Yadda yadda. Some place in Dublin. Yadda yadda." And then you'd end by saying something about hefeweizen, calling me an alco and naming some other fucking wine that I should have bought.

The luv between these two is strong. What happened my pocket in the last 10 years, Goddamnit? I used to buy Ardanza and even fooking Lynch Bages. No More ... Currently sipping a DDH Imperial Neipa. Nice, but pales in comparison with the single hop NEIPA I had just before it. That one was among the nicest beers I've had, jeez
