The Winds of War and War and Remembrance WW2 Mini series

These are 2 mini series from the 80s telling the story a Zelig like US Navy family, side by side with the big events of WW2.

There are issues with the 2 series, not least the casting of Robert Mitchum as a 50 something when he was 65, and a lot of scenes were unnecessarily long. Also, the time lapse of 6 years between both, meant they had to recast a number of roles, but it many cases it improved the 2nd series. John Gielgud and Jane Seymour were outstanding in that second series. That said, the historical retelling of the WW2 events especially the chilling concentration camp scenes (filmed in Auschwitz itself) were amazing and well worth investing your time.

War and Remembrance: Interviews

Tldr.
But lets paraphrase.
I really really wish Ireland was still a part of the UK. Im from a social strata in Ireland that did quite well at the end of the 19th century and I probably have at the very least Anglo Irish roots.
Our recent successes as an economy upset me as they restrict my families traditional stance of claiming the Irish are gombeens and incapable of governing themselves.
Looks like you replied to the wrong thread, CreedY.
