We all know English because of the British Empire, you see French, Spanish, Russian & Arabic all using that language as the major global one because we are mostly lazy so instead of learning a new language we have a common one we all use it and with Google translate even less of a need to learning a language.

Another unpopular opinion, Syria is practically a European country. Know what you might say they are Islamic, geographically they are situated in the levant but in a lot of ways they are kinda European.

First of all Syria was part of the Greco Roman World & unlike other Arab & Muslim countries was due to European Imperialism especially the French that the borders were created. Substantial minorities are in the country and the Sunni/Alawite & Shia divide parallels the Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox divide in Europe & finally Syria is secular like much of Europe today.
