I was driving tractors for a contractor at that age and there was never any messing or incidents and for the most part you wouldn't see or hear of many incidents nowadays either.
The machinery they are driving now is vastly bigger than what I would have been operating though so you could argue that the age should be raised a year or two.

Likewise I see many truck drivers in their 40's/50's swerving on the M8. As you pass them you realise they are looking at their phones.
