The, um, Aviation Thread

Never seen this before. Compelling watching.

The amount of absolutely selfish pities is unbelievable though. Especially that nordie.

You'd hope they are absolutely mortified if they watch this back

When does a pilot decide to perform a go around, or an aborted landing?

I was watching a few from today and the plane is nearly on the ground when it heads back upwards.

Is it a split second decision like that or have they planned in advance that they're preparing for an aborted landing?

Just a novice aviation geek question

I suppose it's maybe different for those lads, they're flying a $110,000,000 bus with, 220 people on it in severe wind, rain, in a badly placed airport.

You'd nearly be better off with a robot.

My aunt was flying to Spain this morning and the flight was diverted as someone had a heart attack.

Has anyone been on a diverted flight?

I've been on hundreds of flights and it has never happened, but this is the fourth time this week I've heard of a flight in Ireland having to divert for a medical emergency. Most exciting thing I ever saw was some asshole getting stuck into the air hostess because he wouldn't put his bag into the overhead. A few other lads intervened and and he was a very quiet boy then for the rest of the flight.

Been on 2 diverted flights each due to bad weather, rather than any medical issue.

On a flight to Heathrow from the United States and diverted to Edinburgh.

Engine blowout.

Coming back from Alicante a while ago, a lad took a bit of a conniption, we stopped in Asturias airport. He wasn't too bad, walked off.
Next flight a young wan got a fit of weakness at the knees, the staff laid her down in the aisle, all well, no diversion.
